I couldn’t resist
a quick put together for a photo.
The
fit of the trigger group, trunnion, and buttstock are all excellent. The kit I got from Black Market Parts. ($1090) Kit looks
good… with one problem. No mock suppressor. I got the kit on Monday morning and emailed and called immediately. Unfortunately
they are closed on Mondays so I just left a message informing them of missing part. A day later on Tuesday I received a call
from Nicole five minutes after they opened. She let me know a new one was sent right out to me. I was very pleased with the
prompt response. The late suppressor really isn’t even going to delay me as I don’t think I’m going to have
time to do any welding for at least a week or so.
I am disappointed that I forgot to bring my mags home from
work for the photo. I aquired 3 new HK curved 30-rd. mags. ($200) My
total expense for the project with the kit, 3 mags, & receiver at this point is $1581. This includes the shipping on all
items. I do intend to replace some parts pretty much immediately. So there will be some further costs to be determined.
So the first thing I have done is put together the bolt head. The
kit came with 2 standard size 8mm rollers. They went in with ease as did the extractor and retaining pin. Using a steel
punch I drove in the roll pin for the roller retainer clip.
Finally remembered to bring my mags home.
I also got the finish that I intend to use on the rifle. I
went with Lauer Custom Weaponry DuraBake in matte black. ($25) I also intend to finish off my FAL build with this as well.
